-At Kingsford Smith Airport carried out installation on projects
for Western Southern communication links for monitoring, control
and supervisory and other comms networks and Hotlines.
-At Cooma & Bankstown Airports, At Mount Tootie, Conjewoe and
Berrico installed carried out installation on Air Ground Air
& microwave links
-Carried out satellite project prototype testing.
-Installed complete satellite facilities stage 1 (1st operational
circuit Australia for DOA). Established & handed over
satellite facilities tests.
-At KSA and Canberra aligned and installed satellite ground
station Comms.
August 1986, Regional Headquarters, Radio Tech Officer
-For Cooma, Wagga, Albury & Dubbo I planned, organised and
assisted the installation dept. with the satellite facilities
installation, tests and commissioning. As well as provide
estimates, procedures, training and maintenance assistance.
Oct 1987, TCN Channel Nine, RF Technician
-In the RF Engineering division, I repaired and installed
microwave links, Broadcasting News gathering vans, weather radar,
wireless mics, studio base stations and portables including their
supervisory and controls. I was involved in the Bicentenary New
Years telecast, Australia day telecast and 1988 State Elections
telecast.
Apr 1988, Heyden Spike p/l, Senior Data Technician
-In the Data division I built, installed, commissioned and
maintained computer controlled OTC Sea phone exchanges at Sydney,
Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. I was also heavily involved in
post sales support and R & D for hand held portable radio
control container tracking Terminals. Post installation
developments of a DTMF job dispatching system, Trunked radio
system, as well as being Assistant Service Manager.
1989, Trading as TechQuality Enterprise, Director
-Created business Name, Carried out some evaluations of
technologies in computer communication and CCTV security
industries.
May 1989, Pacific Communications p/l, Service
Technician
-For Pacom as a Senior Technician I maintained and repaired CCTV
& Comms Systems and parts there of; such as video matrix
switchers cameras, monitors, video amps, multiplexers, launch
amps, receivers, controllers, slowscans, control decoders etc. As
well as specialist maintenance and installation for the law
Enforcement Division for clients such as NCA & NSW Police
Jan 1990, Pacific Comms; Technical Supervisor
-In this role I supervised and maintained the daily activities of
the Service Dept. consisting of technical and administration
staff. This role would be best described as a hands on Service
Manager. Carrying out tasks such as preparing estimates and
quotation for maintenance contracts, commissioning of systems as
well as operational and technical training to clients &
installers, resource scheduling, on call maintenance, providing
technical & customer support. I also controlled maintenance
contracts and Developed and Implemented effective administration
& Quality control practices relating to the Service
Department.
Jun 1994, Pacific Comms; Engineering Support
-My role grew to include commissioning and oversee Technicians
test & commission sales jobs or on larger projects I would
Final test and commission myself. Other achievement was to
prepare and implement training lessons for operational &
technical personnel and clients from interstate, New Zealand and
Singapore branches.
My job spec was officially changed to concentrate specifically on
providing engineering support, heading a new department. Where I
often was to trouble shoot design, installations and products for
interstate branches, Pacom Asia, GCL New Zealand, Distributors
and customers. Being the liaison between Engineering, Sales,
Service and Dealers and customers. As well as being involved in
product & project, design and document evaluation.
Some of the Projects/milestones I have been involved in are;
Parliament house, SCG, Sydney Football Stadium, Lithgow &
Windsor Prison, Deer Park prison Vic, Woodford prison in Qld,
NRMA CCTV & microwave link, Chifley Sq, National Gallery,
Brisbane Casino, Digital and IBM CCTV systems to list a few. I've
also traveled to Singapore, Germany, New Zealand, Townsville,
Brisbane, Christmas Island for Demonstrations, Sales Support for
Job tenders, Commissioning of installation, Problem evaluation
and rectification and as an instructor for courses.
June 1997, TechQuality Enterprises Pty Ltd, Technical
and Operations Director
-As Technical Director of TechQuality Enterprises , having
incorporated the company in 1997, I have provided service for
Design and implementation of CCTV networking at Longbay
Correctional Centre. Having Networked 5 remote location within
the complex to 1 monitoring centre for live video surveillance
and alarm monitoring. This was done contracted to Advanced
Security. I continued being involved in upgrades, commissioning
and some maintenance. As well as contracting on projects to
Upgrade Goulburn, Bathurst Correctional centre & State Rail
Authority of NSW CCTV installation of East hill, Fairfield,
Glenfield, Picton , Moss Vale, Kingsgrove, Riverwood, Springwood
and Metford stations. Also contracting to the installers for
services such as design, quote, setup configure and commission.
As well as providing and keeping abreast of operational issues by
providing maintenance. I also have provided Technical and
operational support direct to Railcom on such sites as
Strathfield, Epping, Kogarah, Fassifern, Hornsby, Circular Quay
& for Rail Services Australia on Metford Station Security.
Other Companies I have provided services and reports for have
been Australian Surveillance, Chubb, FFE, Loss Prevention,
Pacific Communications, ATC, Hanimex CCTV, Network Security,
National Crime Authority and IBM.
With exception of some Newsagents, Pharmacies and small
installation, the majority of my work with TechQuality
Enterprises has been to provide Consultation, quotations
commissioning, training and maintenance Service. Often
contracting to the Supplier installer or consultant. For clients
such as Rail Services Australia, Railcom, National Crime
Authority, and IBM my services have been direct to the end user.
Some of the projects I have been contracted on are; for Network
Security to design and install CCTV, intercom, lock and access
control for Plumpton nursing home. For Advanced Security to
provide Training For the RTA projects, involving the
implementation of new CCTV, Alarm security, Access contol, P.A.
System and Backup power supply to all RTA Sydney branches. For
Pacific communications to consult, assess setup and train
regarding CCTV colour setup for Waicol Prison in Qld. I have also
been contracted as Consultant to put to Tender the supply &
installation for upgrades to the CCTV system at IBM Cumberland
Forest.As well Being commissioned by Consultant Les Simmonds for
providing technical consultation on the acceptance testing and
commissioning of 301 Networked stations CityRail CCTV Project.
Some cabling projects
undertaken have been:
Some cabling for the ATM Fibre Network for CCTV project at State
Rail Authority. Re-cabling of new racks for Coax cabling. As well
as being contracted to commission SRA CCTV Project, this involved
checking compliance to AS3000 + ACA Standards Telecommunications
Act as amended 1997.
At IBM re-cabling coax and 50 pair balanced video lines.
Remote controls systems via telephone networks.
Also I've been contracted to fault find cabling noise from poor
installation practices on Brisbane City safe project.
Always Evaluating
Often I have been involved in Evaluation of Projects Designs and
Products.
Some of the Evaluations I have been involved are regarding poor
picture quality or inconsistant Picture Quality such as in
Parliament House, Lithgow prison, Jupiters Casino, Townsville
Casino, Goulburn Gaol, Deer Park Vic Detention Centre, Woodford
Prison, Cabramatta City safe and Brisbane Mall.
Often in a capacity of post installation support. Often to the
effect of having the Manufacturers modify their product or assist
installers take remedial actions with the installation.
I have been involved in many product evaluations and in finding a
weakness in a product to assist in its best utilisation or
finding a strength for a product in aiding its promotion.
Often My strengths are not totally from Previous knowledge but in
resourcefulness of grasping new product or new design concept
weaknesses and strengths and producing a correct procedure of
implementation. Where others may have found not being able to
conclude or have stalled with Uncertainty or reluctaance. My
Involvement with so many State of the art Technologies Projects
and Engineers. Has led me to research the right questions to
effecting the best result. Often inspiring or producing new
designs & concepts.
